Resumen

En este trabajo se hace una breve revisión del problema de la explicación del origen y desarrollo de la autocon- ciencia. Se expone el modelo neurobiológico de las neuronas en espejo como una aproximación a la estructura y función del yo (self), piedra angular de la mente consciente. Se discute sobre la posibilidad de modelamiento computacional de este sistema como una opción para la inteligencia artificial, los aportes de los modelos conductuales y se hace énfasis en la perspectiva de las neurociencias afectivas resaltando el valor adaptativo inmerso en las dinámicas emocionales en las que surgiría el yo consciente.
